Former Headteacher Jailed for 17 Years Over Child Sex Crimes
Neil Frederick Foden, ex-head of Ysgol Friars, was slammed with a 17-year prison term after being found guilty of 19 child sex offence charges. The 66-year-old faced justice at Mold Crown Court on July 1.
Shocking Charges and Victims
Foden’s horrific crimes stretched over several years, targeting four victims. His charges included:
- 12 counts of sexual activity with a child
- 2 counts of sexual activity with a child in a position of trust
- Causing or inciting child sexual activity
- Attempting to arrange a child sex offence
- Sexual communication with a child
- Possession of indecent images of a child
- Sexual assault of a child
Investigation Uncovers Dark Secrets
The probe kicked off on September 6, 2023, after reports surfaced that Foden was in a relationship with a child known as Child A. Victim evidence, including incriminating WhatsApp screenshots, exposed Foden’s pattern of sexualised messaging.
More Victims Step Forward
As detectives dug deeper, additional victims bravely came forward detailing assaults from 2019 to 2023. Foden abused his position to exploit vulnerable children, including:
- Child E – had a secret WhatsApp relationship and was sexually assaulted multiple times
- Child B & Child C – suffered inappropriate touching and assault
Harsh Sentence and Lifelong Bans
Foden must serve two-thirds of his 17-year sentence before parole. He’s slapped with a lifelong sexual harm prevention order and a ten-year restraining order banning contact with his victims. The courts have also permanently banned him from teaching.
Community Outraged as Trust is Betrayed
Assistant Chief Constable Gareth Evans condemned Foden’s vile betrayal of trust as a headteacher. “He was meant to safeguard our children – instead he preyed on them,” said Evans. The community and especially the victims’ families reel from the devastating impact.
Victims Praised for Courage
Detective Chief Inspector Sophie Chance hailed the victims’ bravery. Their testimony, she said, was key to stopping Foden and protecting future generations from harm.
