Woman Charged with Murder After Man Dies in Easterton

A 53-year-old woman has been charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder following the death of a man at a home in Easterton, near Devizes. Helen Shakespeare, from Strawberry Fields, stands accused of killing a man believed to be 48-year-old Raymond Groves from Hartcliffe, Bristol. However, formal identification of the victim is yet to take place.

Multiple Arrests Made After Stabbing Incident

Police rushed to Shakespeare’s address shortly after 8pm on July 2 after reports of a stabbing. A man in his 30s was arrested on July 4 on suspicion of murder linked to the case. Additionally, a woman in her 20s was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and later charged with conspiracy to commit murder. Both remain in custody for questioning.

Shakespeare Remanded and Court Date Set

Helen Shakespeare has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, July 6.

Detective Inspector Deb Hatch said: “I’d like to send my condolences to the family and friends of the man involved. Our investigation remains ongoing.”
