Labour Councillor Charged After Horrific Call to ‘Cut Fascists’ Throats’

A Labour councillor has been hit with charges of encouraging violent disorder after being caught on camera urging protesters to “cut the throats” of “disgusting nasty fascists” during a fiery demonstration in Walthamstow on Wednesday night.

Ricky Jones’ Shocking Rant Sparks Outrage

Ricky Jones, a Dartford councillor from Kent, was arrested after his inflammatory speech at a counter-protest against far-right activists went viral. In the footage, Jones claims far-right members were sticking National Front posters with razor blades on trains before calling on the crowd to take violent action.

“They are disgusting nasty fascists, and we need to cut all their throats and get rid of them all,” Jones is heard shouting, prompting a mixed reaction of cheers and stunned silence from the crowd.

The Labour Party quickly suspended Jones following the incident.

Legal Fallout and Party Backlash

Jones, 57, was arrested at his southeast London home and charged with encouraging violent disorder. He is slated to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court later today.

Jaswant Narwal, Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS London North, confirmed the charges: “Jones was filmed addressing a crowd during which he appeared to encourage violent acts towards far-right protesters.”

A Labour spokesperson condemned the councillor’s behaviour, saying: “This behaviour is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated. The councillor has been suspended from the party.”

Jones is also an organiser for the Transport Salaried Staffs Association (TSSA) union, which slammed his remarks, stating: “We unequivocally do not condone any threats or acts of violence, as these actions are contrary to our values.”

Protest Against Hate Turns Mostly Peaceful

The anti-racism rally in Walthamstow drew thousands, determined to send a strong message against hate after rumours of far-right groups gathering. Most protesters held placards reading “smash fascism and racism” and “love not hate,” with the event largely peaceful—until Jones’ shocking outburst.

Footage of Jones’ speech was shared by Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, who slammed Labour’s slow response and accused police of a “two-tier” system in handling protesters—a claim Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley branded “complete nonsense.”
