Prison Instructor Faces Court Over ‘Inappropriate Relationship’ with Convicted Murderer
Hayley Jones, 33, a prison workshop instructor, has appeared in court accused of misconduct in public office over an alleged “inappropriate relationship” with Jordan McSweeney. McSweeney is serving a life sentence for the murder of Zara Aleena, a law graduate brutally killed in east London.
Convicted Murderer Jordan McSweeney’s Dark Past
Jordan McSweeney, 31, is locked up at HMP Belmarsh with a minimum 33-year term for the shocking murder of 35-year-old Zara Aleena. The attack happened as Zara walked home from a night out in Ilford in the early hours of June 26, 2022. McSweeney had been released from prison just nine days before committing the crime.
Originally sentenced in December 2022 to a minimum of 38 years, McSweeney successfully appealed in November 2023 to reduce his minimum term to 33 years.
