Security Boss Busted for Lying to SIA
Adam Gilmore, head of AG Security, has been nailed for feeding false info to the Security Industry Authority (SIA). The verdict came down at Peterlee Magistrates’ Court on September 10, 2024, after a trial that kicked off on May 21.
Investigation Uncovers Fake Staff Claims
The SIA was probing unlicensed door supervisors working at a Newton Aycliffe venue in County Durham. Gilmore was grilled for details about the door staff he claimed to have hired.
But the SIA found glaring inconsistencies. Two supposed employees actually lived miles away and never worked for Gilmore or AG Security.
Lies Caught Out Under Caution
When questioned, Gilmore insisted the men were his staff and he held their licenses and IDs. Evidence from the investigation proved otherwise.
He was convicted of deliberately or recklessly giving false info, racking up fines: £180 plus £650 court costs and a £72 victim surcharge.
SIA Sends Clear Warning to Security Firms
“Our job is to protect the public by enforcing strict licensing rules. This conviction shows we won’t hesitate to prosecute firms and people breaking the law,” said Mark Chapman, SIA’s Criminal Investigations Manager.
The SIA’s message is clear — cut corners, and you’ll be caught. Compliance is key to keeping the security industry safe and respectable.
