Ex-Scotland Yard Cop David Carrick Faces Shocking Sex Charges
Multiple Rape and Assault Charges Laid
David Carrick, 49, a former Scotland Yard protection officer, has been slammed with nine serious charges, including indecent assault on a girl under 14. The ex-Metropolitan Police officer, who served with the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command, faces accusations from two separate victims.
The charges hammer Carrick with:
- Two counts of rape
- Five counts of indecent assault
- One count of sexual assault
- One charge of coercive and controlling behaviour
Allegations Span Decades and Locations
The indecent assault claims date back to 1989-1990 in Salisbury, involving a victim under 14. Meanwhile, more recent offences were reportedly committed in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, between 2014 and 2019. These include two counts of rape, sexual assault, and coercive control against a second victim.
Case Headed to the Old Bailey
During a brief hearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, prosecutor Claire Harden-Frost revealed the gravity of the case, asking for the matter to be sent to the Crown Court for trial.
Appearing via videolink, Carrick said nothing but confirmed his name and date of birth. Chief magistrate Paul Goldspring confirmed the case will be dealt with at the Old Bailey. Carrick is due to appear in custody on November 14.
Former Armed Officer’s Tarnished Career
Carrick joined the Met in 2001 and became an armed officer with the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command in 2009. Now, his police career lies in ruins as he faces these serious criminal allegations.
