Man Fined After Creepy 30-Minute Car Pursuit of Teen in Broad Daylight
Terrifying Tail in Trowbridge
Puligadda Sai, 29, from Fore Street, Trowbridge, has been slapped with a £415 fine after admitting to stalking an 18-year-old girl by car for half an hour. On September 18, at around 6pm, Sai followed the teen as she walked home from Trowbridge train station heading towards Staverton.
Fresh from a local pub, Sai drove slowly beside her, matching her pace and even holding up traffic. The chilling tail went on with no interaction, leaving the girl petrified enough to call 999 in fear she might be kidnapped.
Court Hits Sai With Punishment
At Salisbury Magistrates Court on October 18, Sai pleaded guilty to using threatening and abusive behaviour intended to provoke fear or violence. Alongside the £415 fine, he was ordered to pay £50 compensation to the victim, a £166 victim surcharge, and £85 court costs.
“I feared I was going to be kidnapped,” the victim revealed, describing her panic during the ordeal.
Police Slam Sai’s ‘Unacceptable’ Behaviour
Local Crime Investigator Shonna O’Harney didn’t hold back on the severity of the incident:
“This was an extremely concerning and frightening incident for the victim, who feared for her safety as a result of Sai’s actions. The way Sai behaved was completely unacceptable.
Everyone should be able to feel safe walking home and should not be subjected to this kind of behaviour, especially in broad daylight. I would like to thank the victim for coming forward and reporting this to the police.”
She added, “I hope this sends a strong message that such behaviour won’t be tolerated and offenders will be brought before the courts to get justice for victims.”
Wiltshire Police Remind Public to Stay Vigilant
