Kosovo Extradition Rocks Islington Double Murder Case
A 21-year-old man has been dragged back from Kosovo to face murder charges over a deadly stabbing in Islington.
Lorik Lupqi, born September 22, 2003, is charged with killing two victims—15-year-old Leonardo Reid and 23-year-old Klevi Shekaj. The horrific stabbing happened on Elthorne Road at around 11:30pm on June 29, 2023. Lupqi also faces attempted murder charges for attacking a third man in the same incident.
International Manhunt Ends With Arrest
The Metropolitan Police teamed up with Kosovo’s authorities, the National Crime Agency, and the Crown Prosecution Service to capture Lupqi and bring him back to the UK. He is set to appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, November 13.
Four More Men Await Trial
Already behind bars are four other men slapped with serious charges linked to the case:
- Jason Furtado, 26, from Halton Road, Islington, faces two counts of murder, attempted murder, and possession of an offensive weapon.
- Abel Chunda, 27, of Highgate Hill, charged with the same offences.
- Eden Clark, 29, of Huddleston Road, also nailed on murder, attempted murder, and weapons charges.
- Xavier Poponne, 21, from Halton Road, Islington, charged twice with murder, attempted murder, and drug supply offences involving Class A substances. He was formally charged on May 1, 2024.
March 2025 Set for Murder Trial
The case is headed for trial on March 17, 2025. Police continue their investigation as the courtroom battle looms.
