Four Fugitives on the Run After North London Burglary Spree
The Metropolitan Police are hunting four suspects linked to two daring burglaries in north London. One man is behind bars, but the chase is on for the remaining gang members.
Burglary Drama on Winnington Road
At 7pm on Wednesday, 20 November, officers rushed to a burglary on Winnington Road, N2. As police approached, one of the five masked suspects, armed with a pickaxe, charged at them before fleeing in a black Audi A3.
A high-speed pursuit ensued, but the suspects ditched the Audi on Osborne Road, N4. Police grabbed one man at the scene, while the other four sped off in a black BMW 5 Series.
Stolen Cars, Cash, and Jewels Found
- The abandoned Audi was found to be stolen and sporting fake plates.
- Inside: loot from Winnington Road burglary.
- Officers also discovered cash and jewellery from a second burglary minutes earlier at a home on Sheldon Avenue, N6.
Police Issue Urgent Appeal
Detective Inspector Peter Fernandez said: “We caught one crook who’s now pleaded guilty, but four suspects remain at large. We need your help to find them. They wore dark clothes and fled in a black BMW 5 Series. If you saw anything suspicious on Wednesday evening, get in touch. You can stay anonymous by calling Crimestoppers.” “Burglary is a huge worry for Barnet residents. We’re stepping up patrols in north-west London to tackle this and keep communities safe.”
Arrest Made, Sentencing Pending
John Cooper, 40, of Lymington Avenue, N22, has pleaded guilty to two burglaries. He was remanded in custody after his court hearing at Willesden Magistrates’ on 22 November.
