International Drug Lord Jailed for Importing Nearly 100kg of Cannabis via Stansted
Massive Cannabis Smuggling Ring Busted
Samson Kuteyi, 32, from Enfield, North London, has been sentenced to six years in jail for attempting to flood the UK with cannabis. The international drug dealer masterminded a large-scale operation, importing between 89 and 95 kilograms of cannabis from the USA and Canada into the UK through Stansted Airport.
Between August 2022 and June 2023, Border Force intercepted over 23 kilograms of vacuum-packed cannabis at Stansted, halting the drug haul before it hit UK streets. Police traced the shipments back to Kuteyi, exposing a network that employed at least seven people selling cannabis directly and via secondary dealers.
Luxury Lifestyle Exposed
Kuteyi was arrested at Heathrow Airport on April 22, 2023, as he prepared to jet off to Los Angeles. Officers seized two mobile phones, more than £7,000 in cash, $500 US dollars, and a flashy Rolex watch worth £43,000.
Forensic analysis of his phones revealed evidence of large cannabis purchases in North America and a sprawling UK distribution network. Police found he personally supplied at least 14 kilograms of cannabis to UK buyers alongside his import activities.
Police Crack Down on Drug Crime
“Samson Kuteyi was an international drug dealer involved in selling cannabis on a commercial scale, employing at least seven people. Drugs are a poison on our society, infecting communities, and ruining lives,” said Acting Detective Inspector Mike Monkton of Essex Police.
Monkton confirmed authorities will now seek to recover Kuteyi’s illegal profits under the Proceeds of Crime Act, striking hard at the financial rewards of drug dealing.
Communities Hit Hard by Drug Trade
The police warned that operations like Kuteyi’s fuel violence and destabilise communities nationwide. The seizure of his assets and tough jail sentence mark a significant victory in the fight against the drug trade.
Kuteyi’s conviction sends a clear message: law enforcement will not tolerate those who endanger public safety by flooding the streets with illegal drugs.
