Fast-Tracked Burglar Gets 41 Weeks for Crawley Wingstop Break-In
A 48-year-old crook has been locked up for 41 weeks after smashing into a Wingstop at Crawley Leisure Park in the early hours of December 3. Thanks to quick police work, justice was served within 24 hours.
Alarm Bells Ring at 4am
Police on patrol around 4am heard the loud alarm from Wingstop ringing out and rushed to the scene. They found a smashed window and forced entry. Inside, they caught Abdoulie Kinteh red-handed with stolen items including a black phone, three cans of beer, and a delivery driver’s handheld device.
Criminal Behaviour Orders Ignored
Further checks revealed Kinteh, who is of no fixed address, had broken two criminal behaviour orders during the break-in. He was arrested on the spot, charged the same day, and appeared in Crawley Magistrates’ Court the next morning. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to nearly 10 months behind bars.
Police Praise Rapid Response
“We are determined to bring more offenders to justice and protect our community, and businesses, from burglary,” said Chief Inspector Steve Turner, District Commander for Crawley and Mid Sussex. “Our teams worked really hard to ensure Kinteh was charged, and this quick conviction shows our robust approach to burglars. We will continue to target suspects and ensure communities across the district feel safe.”
