Burglar Busted: No-Home Crook Jailed for Two Business Break-Ins

A 22-year-old man with no fixed address has been locked up after pleading guilty to smashing into two Crawley businesses in just days. Harvey Brackpool stole charity boxes and other valuables, sparking outrage in the local community.

Rapid Crime Spree Hits Tesco and Starbucks

Brackpool’s crime spree began on November 8 when he broke into Tesco Express on Commonwealth Drive. He made off with cigarettes and a charity box. Barely hanging around, he hit again two days later on November 10, targeting a Starbucks in Queens Square and stealing another charity box.

His brazen raids sent shockwaves through local shop owners and shoppers alike.

Swift Justice: Jail Time and Compensation

Thanks to swift detective work by Sussex Police, Brackpool was nabbed on December 9 and charged immediately. He appeared in Crawley Magistrates’ Court the very next day and confessed to both burglaries.

The courts slammed him for having “a flagrant disregard for people and their property.” Brackpool was sentenced to 24 weeks behind bars and ordered to pay £100 compensation.

Police Vow to Protect Businesses and Community

Chief Inspector Steve Turner, Crawley and Mid Sussex District Commander, said: “We are committed to bringing more offenders to justice and safeguarding our community, including local businesses from burglars.”

“Our teams worked tirelessly to ensure Brackpool was charged, and this swift conviction highlights our strong stance against burglars. We will continue to target suspects and ensure communities feel safe and protected.”

Sussex Police urge residents to report anything suspicious and help keep Crawley’s businesses safe from criminals like Brackpool.
