Two Men Nabbed for Huge Cannabis Farm Bust in Lydd

Kent Police struck a major blow against organised crime on the morning of Wednesday, 18 December 2024. Officers raided an industrial unit on Dengemarsh Road, Lydd, following tips about suspicious activity. What they uncovered was staggering.

Massive Cannabis Plantation Seized

Inside the unit, police found a massive cannabis cultivation setup – over 2,000 cannabis plants plus a huge stash of harvested buds. The operation came complete with professional fans and lighting systems, showing high-level investment and planning.

Suspects Caught Red-Handed

Two men were arrested at the scene: Thai Son Dang, 31, and Toan Ta, 32, both of no fixed address. They have been charged with being concerned in the production of cannabis.

Court Hearings Set

The pair appeared at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on 19 December and were remanded in custody. Their next court date is set for 20 January 2025 at Canterbury Crown Court.

Kent Police Send Warning to Criminal Networks

“This operation underscores our commitment to disrupting organised crime and safeguarding our communities. Large-scale cannabis cultivations not only supply illegal drugs but often fund wider criminal networks. We are determined to bring those responsible to justice.” – Kent Police spokesperson
