59-year-old Paul Martin from Croydon has been hit with serious terrorism charges after a detailed probe by the Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command.
Serious Terror Charges Laid
Martin faces a trio of gruelling charges:
- Encouraging terrorism under Section 1 of the Terrorism Act 2006
- Possession of articles for terrorist purposes under Section 57 of the Terrorism Act 2000
- Holding a stun gun, classified as a weapon discharging noxious substances, under the Firearms Act 1968
Upcoming Court Date
The Croydon man is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 14 January 2025. Martin was charged through a postal requisition.
Background to the Arrest
Martin was first arrested in South London on 28 September 2021 during a Counter Terrorism operation. He was later released under investigation while police dug deeper into his activities.
