Kent Police have charged a man following a hare coursing incident at Plum Pudding Island, Birchington, Thanet. Gavin Chapman, 47, faces serious charges and will appear in court next month.
Poaching Crackdown at Plum Pudding Island
The drama unfolded on the morning of Saturday, 18 January 2025, when officers responded to reports of suspicious poaching involving a man and a dog. Police found Chapman parked along a remote single-track lane.
During the search, officers discovered three dead hares and a powered telescope—key evidence linking Chapman to the illegal hunt.

Chapman, who lives in Well Lane, Canterbury, has been released on bail but faces Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 13 February 2025.
