Convicted Predator Hooks Teen in Motorbike Chat Group
Jake Booth, 22, from Tonbridge, set up an internet motorbike chat group to hook a teenage girl. Using the forum, he started chatting with the girl before switching to Snapchat for private messages. Booth then arranged to meet her and her family in person.
Family Unaware of Sex Offender Prevention Order
Booth quickly gained the family’s trust, convincing them he was just a close friend. They allowed him to stay in their home — completely unaware he was subject to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order. The order, imposed in 2022, banned him from any unsupervised contact with anyone under 16, following previous convictions for making indecent images of children.
Arrested in Child’s Bedroom, Sentenced to Prison
On April 11, 2024, police found Booth in the teenage girl’s bed and arrested him. He faced 14 charges for breaching the prevention order and failing to comply with sex offender notification rules. Booth pleaded guilty at maidstone/" title="Maidstone" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Maidstone Crown Court and was jailed for three years on January 31, 2025.

“Jake Booth groomed this child and exploited her family’s trust while evading strict court measures,” said PC Lorny Booth, leading the investigation. “Although there’s no evidence linking him directly to sexual abuse in this case, his prison sentence shows he is a manipulative and dangerous offender who poses a clear threat to children.”
