Dangerous Child Sex Offender Jailed for 21 Years
Keith Edun Busted and Sentenced
Keith Edun, 47, from Strathmore Road, Croydon, has been slammed with a 21-year jail term after a Met Police probe uncovered his vile crimes. At Croydon Crown Court on Friday, February 14, 2025, Edun was convicted of:
- Encouraging the rape and sexual assault of a baby
- Distribution of indecent images of children
- Two counts of making indecent images of children
- Perverting the course of justice
Met Police Crack Down After Meticulous Investigation
Detective Constable Phill Govett, who led the hunt, branded Edun a serious threat to kids. He revealed:
“Keith Edun has proven himself to be a dangerous sexual offender and a clear risk to children. He went to great lengths to hide his offending, even deleting a messaging app from his phone before answering the door to officers ready to search his address. This complex investigation involved meticulous enquiries and forensic examination of the disturbing material Edun held on his phone. The fact that he will now be behind bars for a long time means he cannot harm any more vulnerable children.”
How Police Nabbed Edun
The investigation kicked off in 2021 when Met detectives specialising in child sexual abuse caught wind that indecent images were being posted on Kik, a social media app. Tracing the account led straight to Edun’s Croydon home.
Officers raided his property in September 2021 and found Edun had been repeatedly deleting and reinstalling Kik to cover his tracks.
Worse still, police linked Edun to another convicted offender guilty of raping a baby in March 2020. Forensic analysis showed Edun had actively encouraged this horrific crime through online messages.
Harsh Sentence and Lifetime Monitoring
After being charged in October 2023 and remanded in custody, Edun was handed:
- 13 years behind bars plus an eight-year extended licence for being a dangerous offender
- A lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order
- Permanent placement on the Sex Offenders Register
The judge slammed Edun’s long criminal history showing a persistent, extreme sexual obsession with children, especially babies. The court ruled Edun remains a serious danger to the public.
Warning to Would-Be Online Predators
Detective Constable Govett warned offenders exploiting children online face ruthless action:
“This investigation shows the Met’s Online Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Command is relentless in keeping vulnerable children safe across the UK. Even if someone isn’t physically there when these terrible crimes happen, encouraging them online makes them just as guilty.”
