Former Partner Jailed for Rape in Shocking Home Attack
“This is a life sentence for me and one I will carry forever,” said the victim of a brutal rape by her ex-partner.
Stephen Appleby, 61, from Diana Way, Corfe Mullen, was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court today (24/02) after being found guilty in December 2024. The attack took place inside the victim’s home on September 5, 2021.
Victim’s Statement: Relief Mixed with Lifelong Trauma
The victim bravely reported the crime after recording the assault and listening back. In a powerful statement read to the court, she said:
“I feel great relief in knowing that I was believed and that I am going to gain some freedom in knowing that Stephen will be sent to 123 and the court process.”
“I hope this sentence provides some solace for her and helps her continue her journey to healing and enjoying life again,” added DS Whitton.
“We want all victims to know you are not alone. Report to the police. We will listen and guide you to the support you need.”
