Second Suspect Charged Over Brutal A2 Assault Near Canterbury
Violent Attack Rocks London-Bound A2
Emergency services rushed to the London-bound A2 near the A28 Wincheap exit at around 5:40am on Saturday, December 14, 2024. A violent assault unfolded when occupants of one car were viciously attacked by at least one person from another vehicle.
Two men were hospitalised, with one still battling serious injuries.
New Charge: Axe and Bat Wielding Suspect Held
On Tuesday, February 25, 2025, Esmatullah Paktuiwal, 35, from Britannia Place, Plymouth, was arrested. He faces multiple serious charges including:
- Attempted murder
- Causing grievous bodily harm with intent
- Possession of offensive weapons in public – specifically an axe and a bat
Paktuiwal has been remanded in custody and is due in Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, February 26.
Earlier Arrests in High-Profile Case
This charge follows the January 28 arrest of Dawood Khan, 28, from Burnt Oak, North London. Khan is charged with attempted murder, grievous bodily harm with intent, and two counts of possession of offensive weapons—a wooden bat and an axe. He will appear at Canterbury Crown Court on March 3.
A 27-year-old man was also arrested and released on bail, as the investigation continues.
Police Hunt More Suspects, Appeal for Witnesses
Detectives are probing whether additional suspects were involved in the savage assault. Officers urge anyone who was near the A2 near Wincheap around the time, especially drivers with dashcam footage, to step forward.
