Teen Kidnapped and Seriously Injured in Shocking Purfleet Attack
A 38-year-old man has been charged after a teenager was allegedly grabbed, forced into a car, and left badly hurt at a train station in Purfleet, Essex.
High-Speed Assault Sparks Police Hunt
Police were scrambled to Vineyard Way, Purfleet, at around 7:35pm on Friday, 7 March following reports of reckless driving and a brutal attack on a teenage boy. Spencer Ven Schevensteen, from nearby Botany Terrace, was arrested minutes later, less than a mile from the scene.
Suspect Faces Multiple Charges
Schevensteen is charged with kidnap, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and common assault. He remains in custody and is set to appear before Southend-on-Sea Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 10 March.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
“A 38-year-old man has been charged with kidnap after a teenager was reportedly forced into a vehicle in Purfleet,” Essex Police confirmed. “The teenager was taken to hospital for further treatment by paramedics.”
Officers say Schevensteen attacked the teen, forced him into the car, then sped off. The victim was later found with serious injuries near Purfleet train station.
Police want anyone with information or footage of the incident to come forward as investigations continue.
