Man Dies After Brutal Assault Outside Bromley Sainsbury’s
A 43-year-old man suffered a fatal head injury after a savage attack outside a Sainsbury’s store in Bromley. Andrew Clark was assaulted near the supermarket entrance on Upper Elmers End Road at around 8.30pm on Sunday, 16 March.
He was rushed to hospital in critical condition but tragically died three days later on Tuesday, 19 March.
Suspect Charged and Remanded
Demiesh Williams, 29, from Fir Tree Gardens, Croydon, was already charged with grievous bodily harm with intent following the assault. He appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on 18 March and was remanded in custody.
Williams is due to face the Old Bailey on 15 April. Following Clark’s death, police expect the charges will be upgraded to murder.
Emergency Services Responded Quickly
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said:
“On Sunday, 16 March, police were called to Upper Elmers End Road, Bromley at 20:24hrs following reports of an assault. Officers attended the scene along with paramedics and trauma teams from London’s Air Ambulance. A man was treated at the scene and taken to a major trauma centre.”
London Ambulance Service added:
“We were called at 8.21pm to reports of an assault. We sent an ambulance crew, an advanced paramedic, and an incident response officer. A trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance also attended. The patient was treated at the scene before being transported to a major trauma centre by road.”
