Firthmoor on Edge as “Suspicious Male” Spotted in Dead of Night
Midnight Intruder Sparks Panic
A quiet Darlington neighbourhood was sent into a frenzy after a suspicious man was seen prowling around Ingleby Moor Crescent in the early hours of Sunday, March 23, 2025. Durham Constabulary has launched an urgent CCTV appeal to catch the culprit.
At 12:50 AM, police were alerted to a man acting strangely. Witnesses described him wearing a blue hooded jacket and dark jogging bottoms. The same suspect has now been linked to a string of thefts nearby, raising fears of a crime spree targeting the community.
Security Lights Reveal Balaclava-Wearing Peeping Tom
The alarm was raised when a local resident’s security lights flicked on, revealing a man staring into their garden. Early reports said he was masked with a balaclava, but CCTV footage later confirmed the distinct blue hooded jacket. Just ten minutes after the sighting, police were on the scene.
As the night went on, several thefts were reported in neighbouring houses—adding fuel to the fire that the prowler might be behind them.
Police Crack Down – CCTV Appeal Launched
“Officers will be conducting a thorough investigation and pursuing all lines of enquiry,” a Durham Police spokesperson revealed. “We urge anyone with CCTV or doorbell camera footage from midnight to 2:00 AM on March 23 to come forward if they spot anything unusual.”
Authorities are especially keen to identify any images or videos showing a male in a blue hooded jacket and dark joggers to trace his movements and pin down his identity.
Community on High Alert
Local social media pages have exploded with anxious talk and calls for extra caution. One distressed mother posted on Facebook:
“My daughter woke to a man in a blue balaclava staring into our garden at 12:50 AM last night as the security lights flashed on and off. Police were called. I have CCTV footage—please keep your homes, cars, and sheds locked. Firthmoor area.”
The post quickly went viral, with neighbours admitting they’ve noticed suspicious activity recently, though police haven’t confirmed a wider pattern yet.
“It’s worrying to think someone’s roaming at that time,” said one resident anonymously. “We’re all double-checking our locks now.”
