Man Charged Over String of Violent Robberies in Lower Edmonton
A 24-year-old man has been charged following a wave of violent robberies in Lower Edmonton, north London. Daniel Shengezi, from Wyldfield Gardens, Enfield, faces multiple charges after a Met Police crackdown.
Spate of Attacks Targets Mostly Women
The Met revealed that between December 2024 and March 2025, 11 robberies or attempted robberies were reported in the Lower Edmonton area. Ten of the victims were women and one was a man. The victims were assaulted during the attacks, sparking a wave of fear through the community.
Charged with Multiple Offences
Led by the North Area Robbery Focus Unit, detectives charged Shengezi with:
- Nine counts of robbery
- Two counts of attempted robbery
- Handling stolen goods
- Possession of cannabis (Class B drug)
He is set to appear today at Highbury Magistrates’ Court.
Police Urge Public to Come Forward
“We know these reports have caused concern in the area. Today’s charge is a significant development and I hope it provides some reassurance to the community,” said Detective Sergeant Gareth Starr.
