Tragedy struck on Skelmersdale Road when emergency crews were called to a home after a woman was seriously injured. Despite desperate efforts from police, paramedics, and an air ambulance team, the woman in her 40s was pronounced dead at the scene.
Man Arrested Over Woman’s Death
A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. He had injuries unrelated to the attack and was rushed to hospital. After being discharged on Tuesday, March 25, the suspect was taken into custody and charged with murder.
Charged Suspect Named
Oliver Grange, 24, from Skelmersdale Road, Clacton, has been formally charged. He was set to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, March 26.
Investigation Underway
Detective Chief Inspector Greg Wood said: “Clearly, this loss will be felt throughout the victim’s family and by her friends and my thoughts remain very much with them at this time.
“As our work progresses, our determined priority is now to ensure we fully understand what happened in the hours and days leading up to this incident.”
The woman’s identity has not been released, pending a post-mortem examination.
