Croydon student jailed for life over brutal Bournemouth beach murder
Cold-Blooded Killer Strikes on Peaceful Beach
A 21-year-old Croydon student, Nasen Saadi, has been sentenced to life behind bars for the savage murder of Amie Gray and the attempted murder of Leanne Miles during a shocking knife attack on Durley Chine Beach, Bournemouth.
The brutal assault unfolded on the night of 24 May 2024, when Amie, 34, and her friend Leanne were enjoying a quiet evening by a fire. Without warning, Saadi lunged at the unsuspecting pair, stabbing both women multiple times. Amie died at the scene while Leanne suffered serious injuries but survived.
Premeditated Horror: Killer’s Journey from London
Winchester Crown Court heard how Saadi travelled from London to Bournemouth with chilling intent. CCTV footage and a bank card purchase helped identify him, revealing the attack was carefully planned. Detectives believe Saadi chose the sandy beach for its isolated setting, making the assault both premeditated and opportunistic.
Defiant Suspect Arrested in Croydon
Four days after the attack, police arrested Saadi at his Croydon home. During questioning, he refused to hand over his mobile phone, breaching a court order. He later pled guilty to obstructing the investigation under Section 49 of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act.
Justice Served – Families and Police Respond
Detective Inspector Mark Jenkins of Dorset Police said:
“We poured everything into catching this brutal killer. More than 100 officers and staff worked on this investigation. Saadi deliberately chose his victims and location with the intention to kill. This was a horrific, unprovoked attack on two innocent women.”
He also praised local businesses for sharing CCTV and vital information that helped secure the conviction.
Senior Crown Prosecutor Benjamin May honoured Amie’s bravery:
“Amie’s life was tragically cut short, and her bravery will be remembered forever. Saadi’s perverse fascination with violence turned into a real-world horror. He has now faced justice.”
“Women should be free to live without fear of violence. The CPS is unwavering in its commitment to pursue justice for victims.”
Saadi was handed a life sentence with a minimum of 39 years behind bars. This horrific case has reignited urgent debates on violence against women and the need to protect public safety.
