Three Brothel Bosses Jailed for Exploiting Vulnerable Women Across UK
Three ruthless brothel owners have been locked up after exploiting trafficked women at more than 50 locations around the UK. Their cruel operation spanned towns including Canterbury, Chatham, Dartford, and Maidstone.
Exploitation, Coercion, and Illegal Trafficking
Yuan Hang, Lina Wang, and Chung Fu Wang orchestrated a network of brothels, forcing vulnerable women into sex work. Many victims were trafficked illegally into the country and coerced into labour to pay off family debts. Some were even made to work without protection, risking serious health issues.
Local communities reported constant disturbances such as noise, property damage, and suspicious activity, highlighting the wider impact beyond the victims themselves.
Police Crackdown and Arrests
Kent Police launched a major probe in 2019 after uncovering linked brothels in Gillingham and Maidstone. The investigation relied heavily on mobile phone data to piece together the offenders’ networks.
In August 2021, Lina Wang was caught in Cambridgeshire trying to hide six mobile phones. Police also found her bank statements showing a staggering £430,000 stash. On the same day, Chung Fu Wang was arrested in London surrounded by multiple phones and bank cards belonging to exploited women.
Meanwhile, Yuan Hang surrendered following a London raid. Known as a high-stakes gambler, Hang owned luxury cars despite having almost no legitimate income.
Harsh Sentences at Maidstone Crown Court
On April 1, 2025, Judge Branston condemned the trio for their “selfish, greedy reasons,” highlighting their total lack of remorse or empathy for victims.
- Lina Wang, 44, Cambridge – pleaded guilty to conspiracy to control prostitution for gain and possession of criminal property. Sentenced to 5 years 8 months.
- Chung Fu Wang, 41, Dagenham – pleaded guilty to conspiracy to control prostitution for gain. Sentenced to 3 years 9 months.
- Yuan Hang, 39, no fixed address – pleaded guilty to the same charges. Sentenced to 5 years 8 months.
Police Appeal for Help
Detective Constable Dameon Shaw called the case a “lengthy and complex investigation” into criminals causing untold misery across the UK.
“Forcing vulnerable women to work in the sex industry is an appalling thing to do, and these three offenders should be utterly ashamed. They showed scant remorse, living the high life while their victims suffered in silence.”
DC Shaw urged anyone suspecting brothel operations near them to report immediately to Kent Police. He stressed the importance of community action to protect vulnerable women from exploitation.
“Reporting helps us take action against offenders and supports those trapped in the sex trade against their will.”
This sentencing stands as a major victory for Kent Police in their fight to dismantle criminal networks exploiting vulnerable people nationwide.
