Young London Man Dies After Hit-and-Run in Harlow

A tragic hit-and-run on Momples Road, Harlow, has claimed the life of 26-year-old Arlind Xhokola. The Londoner was struck by a car around 5:30pm on March 29 and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are probing whether the crash ties into a Ford Fiesta robbery nearby just 90 minutes earlier.

Family Mourns “Loving and Supportive” Arlind

Arlind’s family paid a touching tribute through Essex Police, describing him as “loving, friendly, and supportive” and “easy-going.” They said:

“Arlind wanted to help everyone. Friends and family counted on him for support. He was mellow and patient, respected and loved by many.”

His girlfriend called him a “lovely person” who was family-focused from a young age. She added, “Arlind was working in construction to help his family and always dreamed of creating one of his own.”

Murder Charge and Arrests Shake Harlow

  • Jeremy Heath, 50, from Ladyshot, Harlow, has been charged with murder and carrying a blade in public. He appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court and remains in custody ahead of a hearing.
  • Three other men from Harlow were arrested: two remain held on suspicion of robbery and murder, while another was released under investigation on suspicion of assisting an offender.
  • A 37-year-old man from Harlow was also arrested for robbery and murder and is in custody.

Police confirmed they are not seeking anyone else in connection with the case.

Detective’s Plea and Community Shock

Detective Inspector James Holmes, leading the investigation, thanked the public for their patience and support, saying:

“This was a complex case requiring hard work across the force. We’re committed to finding out what happened, to give answers to Arlind’s family and to calm the community’s concerns.”
