Seven Charged Over Shocking Plymouth Acid Attack

A brutal acid attack in Plymouth has ignited a major police probe, resulting in seven arrests linked to a suspected organised crime gang. The charges include conspiracy to kidnap, conspiracy to murder, and money laundering.

Victim Left Fighting for Life

In the early hours of 21 February 2025, Devon & Cornwall Police rushed to a Lipson Road property at 3:55 a.m. A man in his 30s was discovered with severe injuries after being doused with a corrosive substance. He remains in serious condition in hospital.

The Accused – Who’s Facing the Court?

The seven charged face multiple serious offences and are due to appear at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court on 12 April 2025. They are:

  • Ramarnee Bakas, 22, Bethune Road, London
  • Abdulrasheed Adedoja, 22, North Circular, London
  • Arrone Mukuna, 24, Werrington Street, London
  • Jean Mukuna, 23, Werrington Street, London
  • Brian Kalemba, 22, Estbury Square, London
  • Isanah Sungum, 22, Stirling Way, Edmonton, London
  • Jenna O’Grady, 38, Ernesettle Green, Plymouth

All face charges ranging from conspiracy to kidnap and murder between 7 and 20 January 2025, to money laundering. Some charges stretch to 22 February 2025, tying them directly to the acid attack.

The accused are also charged with participating in an organised crime group dating back to July 2023 under the Serious Crime Act 2015 and the Criminal Law Act 1977.

Eighth Suspect Charged Separately

In March 2025, another suspect, Israel Augustus, 25, of Pulford Road, London, was charged independently. He faces allegations of applying a destructive substance with intent to harm and involvement in organised crime. Augustus is set to appear at Plymouth Crown Court on 16 June 2025.

Joint Police Operation Nab Suspects

The investigation is a result of a coordinated effort by Devon & Cornwall Police and the Metropolitan Police, highlighting the widespread nature of the alleged crime network.

On 10 April, six male suspects were arrested across London, while Jenna O’Grady was caught in Plymouth.

Motive and Victim Updates Remain a Mystery

Police have not disclosed the motive behind the vicious attack or the latest on the victim’s health, citing the ongoing investigation.
