Man Busted After Loaded Gun Found in Kent Home

A man has been arrested after police found a loaded handgun stashed at a property near Ashford, Kent.

Gun and Knuckleduster Seized in Early Morning Raid

Kent Police executed a search warrant at a house on Watery Lane, Westwell, in the early hours of Sunday 13 April 2025. A police dog sniffed out the loaded firearm hidden in the loft space. Officers also confiscated a knuckleduster during the raid.

Suspect Charged With Multiple Weapon Offences

Dean Goodearl, 38, of Watery Lane, was arrested at the scene. He faces three serious charges:

  • Possession of a firearm
  • Possession of ammunition
  • Possession of an offensive weapon (knuckleduster)

Goodearl appeared before Margate Magistrates’ Court on Monday 14 April and was remanded in custody. He is due back in court at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday 12 May.

Investigation Still Ongoing

A Kent Police spokesperson confirmed the charges and praised the officers and police dog involved in recovering the weapon. The investigation continues, with no further details released at this time.
