Orpington man locked up for stabbing ex six times with tyre repair tool
Brutal May Day Attack at Home
Jason Conde, 41, was jailed for over three years after stabbing his ex-partner six times during a vicious assault at his Orpington home on May 9, 2024. The victim, mother of one of his children, had come to confront Conde over a parenting dispute, croydon/" title="Croydon" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Croydon Crown Court heard.
Prosecutor Gary Venturi revealed the fight erupted almost immediately. Conde claimed the woman was “spoiling for a fight” and even armed with a police-style baton—a claim she denies. In fact, Conde used a sharp-pointed tyre puncture repair tool to repeatedly stab her, leaving her coughing up blood before the savage attack finally stopped.
Life-Threatening Injuries and Daring Escape
Despite six wounds—including one puncturing her lung—the victim fled on foot. Conde’s family called an ambulance as she struggled to make it home, terrified to sit down for fear of losing consciousness. She was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Evidence Destroyed in Desperate Cover-Up
After the attack, Conde burned his blood-stained clothes in nearby woods. Police arrested him on May 12, where he claimed self-defence, alleging his ex broke in armed. He later pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm, dropping his defence.
Judge Slams ‘Prolonged and Serious Assault’
“You only stopped when she was coughing up blood and you thought she was having a fit. This was a prolonged and serious assault. Quite obviously, you could have killed her,” said Recorder Collins KC.
The court heard from a probation officer warning Conde remains a threat to current and future partners. The judge blasted Conde’s attempts to play the victim as a “remarkable suggestion” given the brutal nature of the attack.
Victim Speaks Out
“It’s horrible knowing someone can have this effect on your life. He’s ruined his own life as well as everybody else’s,” the victim said in a statement read to the court.
Sentenced to Three Years and Four Months
Conde was sentenced to three years and four months in prison. His defence acknowledged the victim may have come angry but admitted Conde’s “response” was “excessive.” They noted he showed remorse by stopping and calling for help.
Conde will serve half his sentence behind bars before being released on licence.
