London Black Cab Driver Caught Running Cocaine Ring Across the Capital
Michael Redgrave, 57, a seemingly trustworthy taxi driver from Cornwall Road, Waterloo, has been busted as a cocaine courier. He used his black cab to move drugs around London, fooling the public and police alike.
Taxi Turns Drug Den
Between March 2022 and July 2023, Redgrave operated as a drug dealer and courier, delivering cocaine across the City of London and surrounding areas. All the while, he kept up the front of a legitimate London black cabbie.
Busted Outside St Pancras
The law caught up with him on August 3, 2023. Officers arrested Redgrave sitting in his cab outside St Pancras Station. Crucial mobile phone evidence revealed his multiple drug runs across the city, all tied to cocaine drop-offs for clients.
Police Slam “Betrayal of Public Trust”
“By using his position as a legitimate cabbie, Redgrave thought he could outsmart the police by supplying drugs in the City,” said Detective Constable Matt Cooper from the City of London Police Serious Organised Crime Team.
“Our extensive evidence secured his guilty plea. We will keep cracking down on Class A drug supply across London.”
Authorities warned of the serious damage caused when trusted professionals like taxi drivers turn to crime.
What’s Next for Redgrave?
Redgrave now awaits sentencing, with prosecutors expected to push hard for a lengthy jail term due to his blatant abuse of public trust.
The City of London Police remain vigilant, warning that a respectable appearance doesn’t guarantee innocence in the fight against drug crime.
