Hartlepool Home Shut Down Over Drug Dealing and Nuisance

A notorious Hartlepool house has been slapped with a three-month Closure Order after endless reports of anti-social behaviour and suspected drug dealing.

Teesside Magistrates’ Court issued the order for 29 Byron Street—an end-of-terrace property that became a hive of disruption. The court also slapped on £1,565.89 in costs after an application from the Hartlepool Community Safety Team.

‘Round-the-Clock Nuisance’ Sparks Police Action

The court heard how the house attracted constant visitors on foot, bikes, and cars. Locals were plagued by loud horns, shouting, and banging on doors at all hours.

Situated on a busy walking route to local schools and shops, the property was linked to drug activity. Its front windows were smashed several times, adding to the chaos reported by neighbours.

Hartlepool Leaders Back Closure Order

Cllr Brenda Harrison, Hartlepool Borough Council Leader: “This is another great example of the work the Hartlepool Community Safety Team is doing to tackle anti-social behaviour and crime. We won’t let a lawless few ruin lives of residents.”

MP Jonathan Brash, Chair of Safer Hartlepool Partnership: “Selfish thugs making life miserable for ordinary people must face zero tolerance. We’re ramping up efforts to ensure residents enjoy peace and quiet.”

Police Promise Crackdown on Drug Dealing

Inspector Adrian Dack, Hartlepool Police Neighbourhoods Team: “Dealing drugs from a home causes misery for neighbours. This closure order stops occupants returning and gives the community breathing room.”

The closure order lasts three months. Anyone caught breaching it risks up to six months in jail and/or an unlimited fine.
