Man, 27, Charged Over Brutal Canterbury Attack Leaving Victim Hospitalised

Serious Assault Rocks Canterbury

Kent Police were called to Sussex Avenue at 7:14am on Friday, 30 May 2025, after a man in his 50s was found with multiple injuries. The victim was rushed to a local hospital for urgent treatment.

Three Arrested, One Charged

  • A 53-year-old woman from Canterbury and a 36-year-old man from Sittingbourne were initially arrested but later released on bail.
  • Liam Jones, 27, of Cornwall Gardens, Canterbury, was charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.

Jones appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 31 May, and was remanded in custody. The case now moves to Canterbury Crown Court with the next hearing set for Monday, 30 June.

Kent Police urge anyone with information about the assault to call 101, quoting the incident’s date and location. Alternatively, tips can be submitted anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
