Police Crackdown: Protecting Public Order
Chief Superintendent Simon Anslow of Essex Police said:
“This isn’t about stopping people’s lawful right to protest. Those who express their views peacefully have nothing to fear. This is about preventing criminality, protecting the public, and maintaining order. We’ve used tried and tested public order tactics, and we won’t hesitate to arrest and charge those who engage in violence.”
Essex Police plan to keep a visible presence in Epping to reassure the community and address concerns.
Warning from Crown Prosecution Service
Rebecca Mundy, Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS East of England, reminded the public:
“Active criminal proceedings are underway against those charged. To ensure a fair trial, we urge the public not to share or comment online in any way that might prejudice the case.”
