Ex-Heathrow Security Chief Locked Up for 16 Years in £2M Cocaine Smash

A former Heathrow Airport security manager has been slammed with a hefty prison term for masterminding a £2 million cocaine smuggling ring from Colombia to the UK.

Jailed for Smuggling 22kg of Top-Quality Cocaine

Junaed Dar, 47, from Slough, was sentenced to 16 and a half years behind bars at Kingston Crown Court on Monday, 4 August. The National Crime Agency (NCA) uncovered Dar’s dirty dealings after a thorough investigation.

Dar abused his trusted security role to help two couriers, Michael Williams, 39, and Jessica Waldron, 38, both from Dudley, sneak a massive 22kg haul of Class A cocaine right through Terminal 2B.

Inside Job at Heathrow

  • The drugs were shipped from Bogotá, where officers cleverly swapped the cocaine with blocks of wood to avoid detection.
  • Dar arrived at Heathrow hours before his shift, met the couriers, and escorted them to a toilet to grab the luggage loaded with stash.
  • He was immediately nabbed by waiting officers, busted red-handed.

Trusted Security Boss Turned Criminal

“Organised crime groups rely on corrupt insiders like Dar to move illegal commodities. As an airport security manager, he had the access and ability to bypass controls. His actions were a serious threat to public safety,” said an NCA spokesperson.

Heathrow Airport and Border Force fully backed the operation. They continue to work hand-in-hand to crush insider threats and stop Class A drugs flooding into the UK.
