Man beaten to death on Kent beach identified as notorious offender Alexander Cashford

Brutal attack on Kent beach

Alexander Cashford, 49, a convicted stalker and described by police as a “one man crime wave,” was allegedly beaten to death by three teenagers on a Kent beach. The horrific assault occurred near a holiday caravan park on Sunday 10 August in the Warden Bay Road area.

Mr Cashford suffered multiple serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene following the violent attack.

Teen trio charged with murder

A 16-year-old girl and two boys aged 14 and 15, all from the local area, have been charged with murder by joint enterprise. They have been remanded to youth detention and are set to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday 14 August.

Prosecutors revealed that the assault involved a glass bottle and rocks thrown at Mr Cashford. Video evidence shows him being repeatedly struck while on the ground. A 12-year-old girl arrested in Basildon remains in custody as the investigation continues.

Dark past revealed

Courts records show Mr Cashford’s criminal past is extensive. Earlier this year, he was slapped with a curfew and electronic tag after admitting stalking a young woman—he followed her home and left a chocolate bar and letter at her address in the early hours.

Back in 2015, he served three years and four months in jail for nearly 200 offences, including vehicle part theft, money laundering, and making off without payment. Police had identified more than 160 victims, with Detective Constable Sarbjeet Khattoare calling him a “one man crime wave.”

Ongoing probe as police hunt witnesses

Kent Police say the teenagers charged were likely on holiday in Kent when the attack happened. Investigators are still working the case and are urging anyone who was near Warden Bay between 7pm and 8:15pm on that Sunday to come forward with information or footage.
