Three Men Charged After Teen Girl Drugged and Raped in London Park

Three men face serious charges after a 17-year-old girl was allegedly drugged and raped in Fishponds Park, Surbiton, south-west London. Police rushed to the scene just after 7:15am on Thursday 21 August following reports of the attack.

Crime Scene Locked Down as Investigation Unfolds

Forensic teams cordoned off parts of Fishponds Park while detectives launched a probe into the “deeply concerning” incident. Locals have been left on edge as police ramp up patrols in the area.

Suspects Named and Charged

The Metropolitan Police confirmed on Saturday that three men have been charged:

  • Vladas Rupeika, 35, from Epsom – charged with rape.
  • Nerijus Venckus, 36, from Surbiton – charged with rape and assault by penetration.
  • Peter Hoppe, 41, from Tolworth – charged with oral rape.

All three appeared separately before magistrates on Saturday morning. Rupeika and Venckus faced Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court, while Hoppe appeared at Croydon Magistrates’ Court. All have been remanded in custody.

A fourth man, 24, was arrested over suspicion of sexual assault and administering a substance to commit a sexual offence. He has since been released on bail while investigations continue.

Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward

“Three men have been charged following allegations of rape and sexual assault in Fishponds Park, Surbiton. The victim and her family continue to be supported by specialist officers,” a Met Police spokesperson said.

“Local residents can expect to see increased patrols in the area. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting CAD 1207/21AUG.”

The incident has rocked the local community, prompting police to appeal for witnesses or anyone with information to step forward and help bring justice.
