Colne paedo Danny Dunne locked up for nearly 17 years
Decade of abuse exposed
A 28-year-old man from Colne has been sentenced to almost 17 years behind bars after confessing to a shocking spree of child sex offences spanning ten years.
Danny Dunne, who lives on Glen Street, faced Preston Crown Court on 22 August. The judge handed him a custodial term of 10 years and 8 months, plus an extended licence period of seven years. He will also be forced to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life and is slapped with an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Crime revealed after years of silence
Police say Dunne’s vile crimes against a child took place in Pendle from 2009 to 2019. The abuse only surfaced last June, when the victim bravely stepped forward to report it.
The East RASSO (Rape and Serious Sexual Offences) Team launched an investigation. When questioned, Dunne admitted the horrific allegations were true.
Heaped charges spell justice
Dunne pleaded guilty to a grim list of offences, including:
- Rape
- Attempted rape
- Sexual assault
- Inciting a child to engage in sexual activity
Police slam Dunne, praise victim’s bravery
“Danny Dunne is a paedophile and you won’t see him roaming the streets of East Lancashire anytime soon,” said a Lancashire Police spokesperson.
“After years of suffering in silence, the victim finally told police in June 2024 what Dunne had done. We hope this sentence delivers justice and sends a clear warning that we will relentlessly pursue child sex offenders.”
