Man Charged with Rape on Merton High Street
A 35-year-old man has been charged with raping a woman in her 20s in the early hours of Saturday, 23 August, on Merton High Street.
Attack at 3.30am Shocks Locals
The victim reported the attack happening around 3.30am. She is currently receiving support from specially trained police officers.
Suspect Arrested and Remanded in Custody
Officers arrested Tomas Hunt, 35, of Ruxley Close, Sidcup, on Sunday, 24 August. He has since been charged with rape and remanded in custody.
Hunt is set to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 26 August.
Police Confirm Details
“A man has been charged with the rape of a woman in her 20s following an incident which took place on Merton High Street at around 03:30hrs on Saturday, 23 August,” a Metropolitan Police spokesperson said.
“Tomas Hunt, 35, of Ruxley Close, Sidcup, was arrested on Sunday, 24 August and has now been charged with rape. He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 26 August.
The victim continues to be supported by specially trained officers.”
