Teen, 15, Charged with Murder After Fatal Old Kent Road Stabbing
A 15-year-old boy has been charged with murder following the brutal stabbing of 17-year-old Yeray Sanchez-Morales on Southwark’s Old Kent Road.
Deadly Attack Outside McDonald’s
Police rushed to the busy road outside a McDonald’s at 10.47pm on Wednesday, 27 August after reports of a stabbing. Officers found two 17-year-old boys suffering from stab wounds.
Yeray was rushed to hospital in critical condition but tragically died on Wednesday, 3 September. His family is being supported by specialist officers.
Second Teen Treated and Released
The other 17-year-old victim was also treated in hospital but has since been discharged, with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Arrests and Court Appearance
- A 17-year-old initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder was later released on bail as enquiries continue.
- On Monday, 1 September, a 15-year-old was arrested and charged with murder, grievous bodily harm, and possession of an offensive weapon.
- The teenager appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court but cannot be named for legal reasons.
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
“Our thoughts are with Yeray’s family at this unimaginably difficult time. The stabbing happened right in the middle of the road outside McDonald’s on Old Kent Road, and there were many witnesses,” said Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command.
