72-Year-Old OAP Holds Police in 25-Hour Armed Stand-Off in Pagham

Police are locked in a tense stand-off with a 72-year-old man believed to be armed inside a Pagham home. The drama started just after 4pm on Sunday (28 August) at a property on Harbour Road following reports of threatening behaviour.

Woman Escapes, Man Still Barricaded Inside

A woman known to the man was inside the property but managed to leave safely shortly after police arrived. The elderly suspect remains inside alone, refusing to come out.

Harbour Road Sealed Off As Police Negotiators Work

Detective Superintendent Carwyn Hughes gave an update: “Harbour Road remains closed with a police cordon in place. Our priority is the safety of local residents. We’re doing all we can to minimise disruption to their daily lives and Bank Holiday plans.”

He added: “Residents are allowed to come and go along Harbour Road with police support. We continue to communicate with the man via a trained negotiator.”
