Oliver Luke Jailed for Brutal Sexual Assaults Across Cornwall

Oliver Luke appeared at Truro Crown Court on October 14, pleading guilty to two counts of sexual assault by penetration, one count of sexual assault, and one count of actual bodily harm (ABH).

He’s been handed a hefty sentence: eight years in a Young Offenders Institution, followed by lifelong inclusion on the sex offenders register.

Chronology of Horrors

  • October 2019, Truro: After a night of drinking with a group, Luke, a stranger to the victim, stayed behind and sexually assaulted her. She fought him off, forcing him to flee.
  • May 17, 2020, Camborne: Luke was drinking with others before they all left separately, leaving him alone with another woman. He sexually assaulted and strangled her neck. The victim escaped and alerted police.
  • May 24, 2020, St Austell: Luke attacked a woman walking alone at night, but was interrupted by a passerby. He was arrested the same day and charged with all offences.

Justice Served

“We welcome the sentence handed down today,” said the investigating officer. “Thanks to the victims’ courage in coming forward, we hope this brings closure as they move on with their lives. This successful conviction sends a clear message: offenders will be caught and punished.”

Stella Waata, Senior Crown Prosecutor for CPS South West, added: “Sexual assaults are challenging to prosecute. Thanks to Devon and Cornwall Police’s thorough investigation and the bravery of the three women, we built a strong case leading to guilty pleas and today’s sentencing.”
