Four ‘Mitch’ Gang Members Jailed for Major Drugs Plot
Four crooks from the notorious ‘Mitch’ gang have been slammed with hefty prison sentences at Chester Crown Court. They masterminded a Class A drug conspiracy worth up to £142,000.
High-End Kicks Used to Peddle Poison
The gang, including Jamal Conteh and Zakaira Ahmed, ran their nasty operation from July 2019 to July 2020. They used two ‘graft’ phones and clever ads featuring pricey 123 and Dior trainers — worth around £850 — to push their deadly drugs.
Judge Slams ‘Reckless’ Exploitation of Vulnerable Youths
Justice Michael Leeming tore into the pair: “Conteh and Ahmed worked as a team and recruited and exploited others to assist.” He condemned their complete disregard for the wreckage their drugs cause, adding, “You exploited youths to reduce risk to yourselves.”
Sentences Handed Down
- Jamal Conteh – 12 years, plus serious crime prevention order
- Zakaira Ahmed – 7 years 6 months
- Oluwafemi Odumuyiwa – 44 months
- Cheryl Hamand – 31 months
Two others, Ammin Hassan and Edson Pereira, face sentencing early next year.
Police Pledge to Keep Streets Safe
Detective Inspector Adam Alexander said: “This gang brought misery to Macclesfield while relying on vulnerable youths. Cutting off supply and removing dealers is vital to make our streets safer.”
Detective Constable Luke Browczuk added: “This complex case proves crime knows no boundaries. If you bring drugs to Macclesfield, we will find you and nail you.”
Police and Crime Commissioner David Keane praised the officers for cracking the case and urged locals to report any suspicious activity to Cheshire Constabulary.
