Victoria Howell Jailed for Killing Man on A31 in Careless Driving Crash
Victoria Howell, 23, from Farnborough, pleaded guilty to causing death by careless driving after a fatal collision on October 16, 2019. She was sentenced today at Guildford Magistrates’ Court.
Sentenced to Curfew and Driving Ban
Howell was ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work and serve a six-month night curfew. She also received a two-year driving ban, lasting until January 2023, with an extended re-test required to get her licence back.
Fatal Crash on the A31
The tragedy unfolded around 9:30pm when Howell’s Suzuki Vitara struck a moped rider on the A31. Connor Traves, from Camberley, was thrown off his bike and then hit by oncoming traffic. He later died from multiple injuries.
Remembering Connor Traves
Connor’s family described him as a “lovely, funny young man” with “the biggest heart” who always knew how to make people laugh.
Police Warning to Drivers
Investigator Stuart Bonner of Surrey Police said: “Howell’s careless driving ultimately cost a young man his life. This case highlights the grave responsibility all drivers have to stay alert and drive carefully.”
