Four Charged in Preston Stabbing Murder
Stuart Brown, 36, and Kerry-Ann Metcalfe, 38, both from Dawson Walk, Preston, have been hit with serious charges. Brown faces murder, while Metcalfe is charged with assisting an offender. They’re set to appear at Preston Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning.
More Arrests and Bail in Ongoing Investigation
A 23-year-old man arrested on Tuesday evening on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released on bail as inquiries continue. Meanwhile, police nabbed a second suspect for murder on Wednesday — a 33-year-old Preston man who remains in custody.
Victim Lee Dawson Found Stabbed in Early Hours
The drama unfolded around 3 a.m. on Friday, June 17, when paramedics were called to Jutland Street. There, 42-year-old Lee Dawson was found with fatal stab wounds. Originally from Preston but living in Sunderland, Dawson was rushed to Royal Preston Hospital but sadly died. A Home Office post-mortem confirmed stab wounds as the cause of death.
Two More Men Charged With Murder
Earlier this week, two more men were charged following Dawson’s death. Andrew Wilcock, 29, and Benjamin Bibby, 20, both Preston residents, face murder and possession of a bladed weapon charges. They appeared in Preston Magistrates’ Court Tuesday and are due at Preston Crown Court on Thursday.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Five other men, aged 18 to 31, arrested over the weekend on suspicion of murder, have also been bailed pending investigation. Detective Chief Inspector Mark Haworth-Oates of Lancashire Police’s Major Investigation Team said:
“While we have charged a total of four people in connection with Mr Dawson’s death, our investigation is ongoing. I would continue to appeal to anyone with information to come forward.”
