Teen Murder Shock in Westgate Street
A brutal stabbing on Westgate Street has left an 18-year-old dead in the early afternoon of Tuesday, January 17th.
Attack and Escape
At around 3.35pm, two men targeted an 18-year-old victim. While one suspect chased and threatened another with a knife, that second victim miraculously escaped unharmed. The attackers fled in separate directions.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, but despite their efforts, the stabbed victim tragically died on site.
Victim Identified
The deceased is Raymond James Quigley, known as James, from Wymondham, Norfolk. His death is subject to formal inquest proceedings.
A Home Office post-mortem revealed James died from four stab wounds to his torso.
Suspects Arrested and Charged
Police swooped on Saturday, January 21, arresting two male teenagers linked to the attack. They face charges of murder and possessing an offensive weapon in public.
- Alfie Hammett, 18, from Rushmere St Andrew
- 17-year-old unnamed boy from Ipswich (protected due to age)
Both were remanded in custody and are set to appear at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, January 24.
Investigation Continues
The Metropolitan Police say a second post-mortem on January 22 found no further injuries. The Coroner is currently probing the exact cause of death.
