London Couple Busted for £12k Alcohol Theft Spree Across Tesco Stores
Met Police Nab Pair in Walthamstow Sting
Police swooped on Ionela Catalina Voicu, 30, and Ion Ciprian Dumitru, 40, in London on Friday 10 March 2023 after spotting them in a car stopped by the Met. Both from Acacia Road, Walthamstow, they were charged with a string of shoplifting offences two days later.
Multi-Thousand Pound Booze Heist
The charges followed a probe into multiple thefts at Tesco stores across east kent/" title="Kent" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Kent between July 2022 and early 2023. The duo stand accused of making off with thousands worth of alcohol, including:
- £1,500 from Tesco Broadstairs (23 July 2022)
- £1,680 from a Worcestershire store (12 July 2022)
- £2,300 from Tesco Sheerness (26 August 2022)
- £875 from Tesco Tenterden (11 August 2022)
- £850 from Tesco Ramsgate (18 December 2022)
- £2,484 from a Tenterden store (18 December 2022)
- £2,610 from a Tenterden store (28 January 2023)
- £715 from a Folkestone store (21 February 2023)
- £350 from a Dover store (11 August 2022)
- plus an attempted theft worth £720 in Ramsgate (11 August 2022)
Next Court Date Set
The pair appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Monday 13 March and were released on conditional bail. Their case is due at Crown Court on Tuesday 11 April.
