Three Men Jailed After Horrific Barking Rape Caught on CCTV
Within just an hour of the brutal attack, three men were arrested and charged with rape within 48 hours, following CCTV footage that exposed their horrific crime.
Security Guard Spots Attack on CCTV, Calls Police
A vigilant security guard caught the horrifying scene while monitoring CCTV at his venue. The footage revealed the trio taking turns raping a young woman after coercing her down a dark alley in Barking town centre early on Sunday, 10 July 2022.
Police rushed to the scene and swiftly arrested the suspects nearby. The victim, left traumatised with no memory of the assault, was supported by specially trained officers throughout the investigation.
Detective Praises Victim’s Bravery and Police Work
Detective Sergeant Harry Nunez, East Area Serious Sexual Offences Team, said: “This was an atrocious attack on a young woman who was targeted and subjected to sustained, serious sexual violence. I would like to recognise the victim’s bravery who has supported this investigation throughout.”
“The police’s early actions to secure forensic evidence and CCTV were vital in building a strong case against these evil men responsible for this sickening crime.”
Quick Police Action Leads to Guilty Verdicts and Sentences
Detective Constable Ben Wallen, who led the investigation, praised the officers’ fast and coordinated efforts:
“This result wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of officers at the scene and support from the Serious Sexual Offences team. I hope this reassures victims of sexual violence that the police will back you all the way and bring offenders to justice.”
Following a two-week trial, the three men were found guilty on 12 January and sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 13 March:
- Miguel Clino, 20, Norfolk Road, Barking: 8 years imprisonment
- Cato, 20, Boundary Road, E13: 7 years imprisonment
- Nizandro Caimanque, 21, Central Park Road, E6: 7 years and 6 months imprisonment
