Man Charged After Fatal Strangling
Ashley Kemp, 55, from Robinson Grove, Hibaldstow, was charged with the murder of Clair Armstrong at her home on Sunday, 6 November 2022.
Guilty Plea Rejected, Case Goes to Trial
Kemp appeared at Hull Crown Court on 2 February and pleaded guilty to manslaughter. The plea was rejected, and the case was sent to trial at Grimsby Crown Court, starting 18 April.
Jury Finds Kemp Guilty After Five Days
After a five-day trial, the jury returned a verdict: Ashley Kemp was found guilty of murder.
Kemp’s Own 999 Confession
In the early hours of 6 November, Kemp called 999, admitting, “I have killed my girlfriend. We got into a fight, and I ended up strangling her.” Police rushed to Elm Way, Messingham, to investigate.
