Dangerous Darlington Biker Snared by His Own TikTok Videos
Kane Tilney, 23, terrorised Darlington’s streets with reckless biking stunts. He rode on pavements, zipped along the wrong side of the road, and never bothered with a helmet. Classic lawbreaker stuff.
But the bragging backfired. Tilney filmed his illegal antics and posted them on TikTok, handing the police a golden stream of evidence on a silver platter.
Arrested and Charged with 20 Offences
Police nabbed Tilney in February. He faced nearly 20 charges, including dangerous driving, no licence, no insurance, not wearing a helmet, assaulting an emergency worker, plus threatening and abusive behaviour.
Justice Served at Teesside Crown Court
Last Friday (November 10), Tilney pleaded guilty. He copped a 12-month prison sentence, suspended for two years. On top of that, he’s banned from driving for two years, forced to complete 200 hours of unpaid work, and slapped with a £100 compensation fee.
Police Speak Out: No Tolerance for Nuisance Bikers
“Tilney is a prolific offender who has plagued the streets of Darlington with his dangerous and illegal riding,” said Inspector Matt Plumb of the Darlington Neighbourhood Police Team.
“He clearly thought he was above the law by posting videos of his crimes on TikTok – but it led to his downfall.”
“PC Paul Foley worked tirelessly to gather the evidence needed to bring him to justice. We share the community’s frustration over bikers who ignore the law and put pedestrians and drivers at risk.
“This result shows we won’t tolerate this behaviour. If anyone spots nuisance bikers, get in touch – we will take action.”
